We are seeing an increse in R arm radial artery cardiac caths. Are there any restrictions to placing an IV line in that arm post procedure? Are there any references?
Cardiac caths from the R radial artery is a relatively new procedure. I have not seen any articles about subsequent venous procedures in the same extremity. Of course you would need to place the IV catheter for the procedure in the Left arm. After the procedure I would assess neuro-circulatory function in that R arm. If all is well and there is no impairment, venous infusion in the R arm should be acceptable. But again, I don't think there has been anything published about this yet. Lynn
