We use one nurse but the patient's nurse (or another available nurse) is present to assist with the time out, do the insertion checklist and support the patient as necessary.
We don't do many PICCs on kids but when we do, we definitely try to have two PICC nurses there. We set it all up so everything is as optimal as possible, including having a peds-trained nurse with us.
