Does anyone have a good website to find the average number of central lines placed a year? Also then broken down to type (port, PICC, IJ, subclavian...)?
I have never seen a website with this type of data. There are private registries for individual hospitals to submit their data but the data is only available to those who submit data. You can have access to the CLABSI database on the CDC website for your hospital, if you submit data and then the aggregate data that is published. The only public data that I know of is the data on VADs sold but nothing on those inserted. Maybe someone knows something that I don't. Lynn
The only public data I'm aware of is released by CMS. You can download HCPCS/CPT procedural volume, charges, and payment information from 2000-2012 for free on CMS.gov. You can pay a small fee to get more detailed data by Region. Of course, this data only accounts for the Medicare population, and placement volume could be biased based on the age of this demographic.
