Does anyone out there use the power injectable line on temporary catheter and if so any issues? Does standards address this at all. My concern is with catheter whip and loction of line in right atrium
We've use the brand Trialysis for years without any issues. In thinking about this, if the catheter is inserted IJ, femoral or Subclavian, and none of those access points should have a catheter placement that extends into the heart unless the patient was very small. see the link below. http://www.bardaccess.com/products/dialysis/power-trialysis
Peggy,
I totally agree that IV catheters should not extend into the right atrium, but hemodialysis cathehters frequently do. And remember that if it had its placement in the femerol vein, the tip would not be in SVC, but rather IVC.
