Wondering if anyone placing PICCs in an inpatient setting, takes ultrasound images (of vessel to be accessed and needle in accessed vessel) and places on patient chart for reimbursement purposes?
You will need to know the mix of payers in your facility to know if this will be beneficial. Do you have mainly Medicare and Medicaid patients along with HMO patients? If so, you will not receive any greater reimbursement as the only amount paid will be the fixed, capitated fee associated with these payers. If you still have some patients on fee-for-service policies, the old traditional insurance plans, you might be able to get a few more dollars for this. I doubt that there are very many patients on those type of policies any longer. Lynn
