Does anybody know of a great alternative for therapeutic phlebotomy on patients that have very limited veins? If they have a port you could hand draw the blood but I was wondering if there was a better alternative. Any ideas?

My recommendation would be to use an infrared light device to locate superficial veins that you can not see or feel. If veins sufficiently large enough to put in a large catheter often required for this procedure are actually deep veins (under muscle tissue), then you could find them with ultrasound. Lynn
