Is anyone using teflon catheters? Does anyone have any documentation regarding these? I have a couple of abstracts indicating there is higher risk of complications. We are re-evaluating the use of these and I wanted to see any other information available.

This question was answsered many years ago with good studies on short peripheral catheters. I am assuming that is what you are asking about. Here is one study:

Your choices are catheters made of teflon or polyurethane. I would only choose polyurethane and never would agree to purchase a teflon catheter. Dwell time is longer and complications are fewer. Lynn
