Hi again,
Here I am again with more questions. Does anyone know if it's ok for picc nurses to transport lido and NS in their cars from their home to the facilities? How are we covered legally to do this? I am feeling un-easy carrying these and have them in a locked cab in the car but nevertheless I know there are issues with nursing transporting meds when in home care, of which I used to be in and remember this 'no-no'.

Are these meds inside a PICC insertion kit or in separate vials or prefilled syringes? I think storage at your home would be the same as transporting in your car. This would come under state pharmacy laws/rules/regulations. So you must investigate what your state board of pharmacy has written about this. Many states addressed the saline and heparin lock solution question for home care nurses several years ago. But it all comes down to the specific rules in your state. Lynn
