IM Injection in extremity with PICC

Does anyone know of any literature or information about administering IM injections into an extremity with a PICC in place?

I have never seen any such

I have never seen any such literature during other searches on PICCs, but have never looked at the literature on IM injections. In thinking about this, my first thoughts go to normal anatomy. For a basilic placement, an IM site would be on the opposite side of the arm. But a cephalic placement could be problematic for IM injections. Then it looks like you are caring for children, so their arms are smaller, veins for insertion anatomically closer to IM sites. It would seem the best approach would be to stay away from the PICC extremity for IM injections especially in your pt population but not an evidence-based answer. Not even sure if evidence is available for this question. Lynn
