Attached is one of Silverlon's many studies which specifically talks about CVADs which was done by Tampa General. There is another study done by University of Maryland specific to LVADs (Left Ventricular Assist Devices) where the hospital was able to reduce the infection rate from 13% to 0% AND reduce the frequency of dressing changes. I can't seem to upload this study since the file is bigger than 1mb. I can email you that study if you are interested or you can go to their website. Silverlon dot com.
Just to re-iterate, I used to be a rep for Silverlon Dressings until about 3 years ago. I no longer work for the company or have any vested interest in the company whatsoever. I just wanted to reply to Lynn's comment and let everyone know that clinical studies were available for Silverlon Antimicrobial Dressings.
Thanks.
Shawn

Looks like a good start, but posters are not the same level as a published study that has been through a peer reviewed process. Posters go through a process of review for adherence to the process, but the entire poster does not receive a blinded peer review with comments back to the author. As the authors on this poster state, this opens the door for other studies to replicate in a RCT. For a poster to be used as a reference in another publication, the author must include the details of the meeting sponsor, dates, location, and page number for the abstract in the convention journal. Without this information, and author that used it in a review article would get a message from the publisher to add all of those details. I would hope these authors go on to get their work published. Then it will be a potential for a guideline-setting study. Lynn
