hepgtt and NS fluid at 100cc hour

Patient only able to have one PIV and needing  both a hep gtt and NS fluid at 100c/hr.  There is much discussion as to what fluid should be directly hooked up to PIV and what should be piggybacked at y site.  both are on pumps.

Thanks

 From a patient standpoint,

From a patient standpoint, it does not matter. It might make it easier for the nursing if the NS is the primary and the heparin drip is piggybacked to the saline. If the heparin has to be changed, stopped, discontinued, etc. it would be easier if this is a piggyback. Lynn
