Hello Everyone, I am looking for some guidance and recommendations for products. I work at a new Children's Hospital we have some difficulty getting a good IV program started. I have taken on this position with the hope to get staff better educated and comfortable starting peripheral IV's and caring from CVL. We are currently using Autoguard IV catheter. I used something different in the past and have not had good success with IV starts with the Autoguard. We are going to bring some different catheters to try. Any recommendations. We have an IV start kit that also need to be looked at. Most of the products, I find staff aren't comfortable using and end up throwing it away. We have a stat lock in the kit that is not being used. What are your thoughts about using stat locks for peripheral IV? Have more questions but will start with these. Thanks Cindy
A product that works well in one facility may not work in another. A skilled nurse with motivation to use a product can be successful with all devices in that category. So I think your facility must take a look at all PIV caths and do a trial to see which works best in your facility. Lynn
