We are in the process of redesigning our nursing documentation in the EMR and have an ongoing debate as to whether it is necessary to document the fluids/meds infusing into each lumen. I have attempted an internet search but can't find any information as to whether this should be a standard of practice. Any ideas or references?

The Standard of Practice for infusion therapy is established by the Infusion Nurses Society. This document states.
"When multiple access devices or catheter lumens are used, documentation should clearly indicate what fluids and medications are being infused through each pathway."
