According to my coding and clinical documentation departments, they are having trouble figuring out if they can charge for midlines using the new ICD 10 coding. This issue is they say they are required to enter a vessel tip location. The choices are all central vein locations which isn't appropriate since by definition the midline does not cross the axilla and we don't get x-rays to confirm tip placement. Does anyone know how your facilities are dealing with this using ICD 10? Thank you!
It would need to be coded as PERIPHERAL IV Access
