When starting a PIV, it is advisable to start above a previous IV or attempted site. Does anyone know how long you should wait before you can attempt below those previous attempt/PIV sites? Thanks
It has always been a basic principle to start low on extremity and work upward. Never go below a recent site or even a failed attempt but I have never found research that estaisbes a recommended time. Based on normal healing process I would think least 24-48 hr but that depends on any complication at the first site. Lynn
