There are many published studies. Start by looking at the reference lists from the INS Standards and the 3 textbooks on infusion therapy. Lynn

we did a good deal of

we did a good deal of investigating when we were choosing pediatric venipuncture pain management plan and our go to product is the J-tip needleless lidocaine injector. I have incorporated this in several presentations I have done at AVA in the last few years. If you are not familiar with this product Google it. It works instantly, has great effect, minimal effect on the vein, and no needle to administer it. We use it for PICCs, PIVs, and lab draws. Physicians will also use it for LPs and needle biopsies.
