Do the new INS Standards or any other organization such as Joint Commission state who should be performing the evaluation of competency in procedures? I know INS recommends that the manager does not do competency.
I am dealing with a situation where the Nursing educational department is doing the competency of USG peripheral IV starts but they do not know how to do this themseilves. Also, our state does not allow a medic to sign a competency for an RN to do this procedure.
Not sure how to answer this.
Thank you,
Chris Thomas
