Has anyone heard that you should flush your line (PICC/PIV) slowly after giving an IV medication that you have to push slowly( i.e. IV lorazepam, IV Haldol etc).
I guess the concern is that if you flush quickly you are going to give the patient a bolus of the medication.....

Yes, this is in a paper from ISMP and in the 2016 INS SOP. Flush after a medication should be given at the same rate as the med injection because of the amount still in the VAD lumen. Lynn
