Blood Thinner: Xarelto, and risk of placing PICC lines

Is there any kind of standard, recommending holding the blood thinner, Xaralto, for any lenght of time before placing a PICC line?  I placed a PICC line on a patient on this, and he bled and bled.  It was really difficult to get it to stop bleeding.  I know there is now blood test for it to see if the dose needs to be decreased, like, for Coumadin..... Please advise.

 There is no established

There is no established standard or guideline on this or any other anticoagulant or antiplatelet drug. I have never found any studies on these drugs with any type of VAD insertion. No studies means no standards or guidelines.  Lynn

There is no blood test for the new orals like there is for Coumadin, there is currently no way to stop the bleeding should they end up in ER after a car wreck.
