A new vascular surgeon started at my facility this week. He was placing a CVC in the ICU and requested a "coverlet dressing" for the CVC. We currently use a trasparent semipermeable membrane dressing. Can anyone provide with more information regarding a coverlet dressing. Thank you.

Not designed for any VAD site, would be considered a gauze dressing requring changed every 48 hours, and would obscure the site. I think someone needs to educate this physician about your polciies, procedures, and practice guidelines. Also remember, no physicain, patient, nurse, etc. can alter a policy. So if your policy for dressing state anything about site being visible, etc. this dressing is contraindicated.
