Do other PICC teams use two nurses to measure for length?
I was wondering if this is normal to have two nurses measure length for the PICC? If so why and have you seen any articles what is the standard for INS?
2 people are needed for the procedure but not specifically for measusring the catheter. The assistant is watching patient and procedure to complete the insertion checklist and to meet other patient needs during sterile procedure. This does not have to be another RN and can be an aid with special training. Lynn
