Dominant versus non dominant arm for PICC insertion

Need evidencve based   information for PICC insert. Does anyone have specific information that states the use of the dominant arm for PICC insertion is preferred?  I was taught to always use dominant arm for insert to promote circulation around catheter to prevent the formation of a blood clot. Our IR MDs do the opposite and are questioning our practice.  Please help.

 No evidence to support

No evidence to support either one. Right sided insertion have better chance at getting the tip location at CAJ. Left sided insertions can impinge on right side of upper SVC wall. I would prefer to place in non-dominant arm especially if patient is going home and must provide his own med administration. But has nothing to do with thrombus risk. Lynn

Preferred arm

Lesser complication on the right arm and I prefer the right arm coz it curves going down.  The left side approach will go parallel and straight and will have tendency for blood clot.  I use the right unless it is contraindicated.
