Is anyone using terbutaline for vasoactive extravasations instead of phentolamine? Our pharmacy is proposing:
terbutaline 0.2 mg in 0.9%NaCl 1 mL syringe
Dose: 0.2 mg
Route: subcutaneous
Frequency: PRN
PRN comment: for extravasation
For: 6 hours
Administration instructions: Administer each 0.2 mg (1 mL) syringe subcutaneously around the leading edge of extravasation.
_
Default dispense quantity = Five terbutaline 0.2 mg/1 mL syringes. May use up to a maximum total dose of 5 syringes (1 mg).
Does this sound reasonable?
Thanks,
Kristi
