My hospital is considering changing policy from every 96 hours tubing changes on central and peripheral lines to every 7 days. Is anyone using this practice and if so how did it affect your CLABSI rates? Thanks
2011 CDC Guidlines stated no more frequently than 96 h and at least by 7 days. There is one study taking set use out to 7 days, however you will need to check with your admin set manufacturer to see if they have tested their brands out to 7 days.
2014 SHEA Compendium and 2016 INS Standards only stated no more frequently than 96 h.
Do they have any evidence to support this proposed change??
