If you draw coags from a PICc that is infusing Argoatroban(using appropriate discard and flushing regimens) do you run a higher risk of inaccurate results as one does when heparin is infusing? appreciate your comments.

I do not think this has ever been studied, but I would think that the possibility exists for obtaining inaccurate lab results. Heparin converts prothrombin to thrombin, while argatroban acts directly on thrombin. Argatroban has a dose-dependent increase on all coagulation lab values. See the monograph in Gahart's Intravenous Medications, but not recommendations to do or not do lab draws from the same line. Lynn
