Med-comp pro-picc

I am looking for feed back on the Med-comp pro-picc?  Any comments or concerns with the product would be appreciated.

Amy,

Having worked with many different PICC kits, I feel I can say that the MedComp Propicc is a great product. I like the needle options that are contained in the kit (2 needles, one safety and one not). The design of the kit is user friendly, i.e. the way it is put together. Items used first and on top and move down. I really like that the NS is preloaded in the syringe. If you do 1-2 a day drawing up NS is no big deal, but our consultants place 6-8 a day, its just a nice bonus in the kit. I like the catheter and have had veyr few problems with DVT's with the use of the catheters. If you have any specific questions let me know, bottom line cannot beat the PICC for the price.

We've been using the Medcomp ProPICC kits for several months.  The kits are well organized, and they include a Cook echogenic needle that is very effective for seeing the tip of your needle in the middle of the vein using ultrasound.  The catheter is sturdy and well made, and I have not had a problem with them.  They've recently started stocking the 7 cm microintroducer (instead of 5cm) in all their kits, and I've found it very helpful with multiple patients.  The 0.18" x 45 cm Nitinol guidewire slides very easily into the vein with it's floppy tip.  I also really like the pre-filled syringes of sodium chloride flushes.
