medical device for ultrasound guided venipuncture

In our hospital in the western part of the Netherlands, we started
inserting PICCs three years ago. Now we are looking for an applicative
medical device so that ultrasound guided venipunctures are possible.
Does anyone have experience with equipment from MEPY or BARD (siteRite).
Please let me know.

I am not quite sure what you

I am not quite sure what you are asking. In the USA, PICCs are most commonly inserted using ultrasound. We are also using ultrasound for insertion of short peripheral catheters in patients with difficult veins. There are also infrared light devices for use with insertion of short peripheral catheters also. There are differences between each type of technology that make them more or less applicable for peripheral veinipuncture. You will find lots of previous discussions about these if you do a Search for this site. Lynn

 Disclosure: I have consulted

Disclosure: I have consulted for Bard as a Clinical Educator.

I have used Bard's SiteRite from model III to the current model IV. (At least I think thay's still current) Over a 10 year time frame I have had nearly 100% success rate for both PICCs and Peripheral IVs. I have recently begun using it for arterial lines. I believe it is engineered for ease of use by nurses. I have also used the Sonosite and the LogicBook. Any of them is a better choice than blind sticks or Interventional Radiology placements.
