We use positive displacement injection caps have a nearly non-existant CLABSI rate. A recent Medscape article http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/806305 reported on a silver and CHG impregnated neutral displacement valve. I would like to know what the community's experience is with this valve or other neutral displacement valves.
Many thanks!!
We trialed several caps recently and went with a neutral displacement valve. The articles and endorsements for a neutral valve certainly influenced our decision, but the nursing staff preferred it over the other devices trialed. The reasons listed included ease of use, size of device and what they considered most important - no clamping sequence.
