A pt has been scheduled for an over the wire exchange due to picc being pulled out and is not in the lower SVC.
Pt had DVT in the arm with the picc 6 weeks ago and is on Lovenox.
Is it safe to do an over the wire exchange, or should I use the other arm?
Pt is no longer experiencing any symtpoms from the clot, so assuming clot has dissolved
I would use a new site to avoid any further trauma to that already irritated vessel. It can take up to 6 months for a thrombus to be resolve.
