Our hospital has started education and training to have PCAs remove IV sites. Do any other hospitals utilize this practice and is it acceptable practice in the state of Pa????
What is the educational level of a PCA? Is this a nursing assistant position (several weeks of training) or has this person been educated as a medical assistant (about 12 months of training)? Are you talking about only short peripheral catheters? If so, there are now many states allowing this level of personnel to insert peripheral catheters.
