I have the INS flushing tables and have written IV flushing tables to be used in our institution based on them. Our NICU is telling me that they do not use saline to routinely flush their CVADs including PICCs. They only use a 10u/1ml Heparin solution. I feel the table is not very clear in this area. Help!

Don't have those cards with me but there are many drugs without confirmed compatibility with heparin. Contact in lumen risk formation of dry precipitate so eliminating saline is not good. Lynn
