Petroleum or Petroleum based gauze for CVAD removal

For removal of a CVAD: is it petroleum topped with gauze or petroleum based gauze that is supposed to be used? And if it is petroleum based gauze - what product are people using. We are having trouble finding a gauze that would work. Curad is a petrolatum dressing but it is folded in such a way and has so much in one package that it is impossible to use for this procedure. Any suggestions? Is it acceptable to use petroleum ointment directly on the exit site upon removal?

Thanks very much

 Either is acceptable. Any

Either is acceptable. Any type of ointment or ointment impregnated gauze that seals the site. Lynn
