I am working on trying to assign standardized time units to vascular access tasks like PICC placement, dressing changes, port access etc. Does anyone know if there are any nationally agreed upon time frames, or do we just average out how long it takes in our practice setting?
Thanks,

In the very old 2nd edition of the INS textbook, there was some suggestions about times for various tasks. That was not included in the 3rd edition and I don't recall seeing this information in any other source. I know INS has not released anything like this. I think you will need to collect your own data on this. Procedures vary with different devices, and steps so your own data would be more accurate for your facility. Lynn
