Do other institutions allow radiology techs to inject contrast into central lines and then flush the lines after use..this would include port a caths and heparin? We are in Pa. and I'm curious to what other institutions are doing. thanks

I am in process of checking off our techs on proper access, flushing, patency, etc. They are able to be trained in our state to place the lines (per state and their accrediting agency). I do not have them heparinize since it is a medication. Only saline locked lines.
Contrast is a medication & rad techs give that!! No heparin lock solution by them seems strange to me. Lynn
